The delegation from the Secretariat is visiting Lithuania for a week of exchange of experiences with the Lithuanian Human rights institutions. Participants are not only getting familiar with the system of advance trainings in various bodies including judiciary system but also are actively involved in practical training sessions together with the personnel of the Lithuanian Ombudsmen institution.
The Ukrainian delegation met representatives of the Ombudsperson office, the Court of Appeal, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania, the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania, the Committee on Human Rights of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Vilnius University, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, the Office of the Ombudsperson for Equal Opportunities and the State Data Protection Inspectorate. 2 days are devoted to joint practical training sessions with the personnel of the Lithuanian Ombudsmen institutions at Training Centre of the National Courts Administration.
In the framework of the study visit the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Ms Liudmyla Denisova met a number of Lithuanian top officials: Ombudsmen Mr Augustinas Normantas and Mr Raimondas Šukus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius and the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Darius Kusevičius, the Head of the Constitutional Court of Lithuania Mr Dainius Žalimas, the Speaker of the Parliament Mr Viktoras Pranskietis. Ms Liudmyla Denisova thanked the Lithuanian partners for support and raised the issues of illegal custody of Ukrainian citizens in Russian Federation.
The study visit will contribute to the implementation of best European practices in Ukraine and improvement of human rights situation in the future.
